“When does Instagram Wrapped come out?” has one honest answer: it doesn't. There is no release date because there is no official product. Here is what actually happens in December, and how to get your recap today.

The short answer

Instagram does not ship a Wrapped. Unlike Spotify, which releases its year-in-review every December on a date it announces in advance, Instagram has no equivalent product you can generate from your own posts. There is therefore no release date to wait for.

What does happen is a community ritual: profiles fill with nine-photo grids in the last week of December, and the phrase “Instagram Wrapped” trends while people look for the official feature.

What the December timeline actually looks like

  1. Late November. “Instagram wrapped” searches start rising, mostly people asking whether it exists.
  2. Early December. Spotify Wrapped lands, the comparison explodes, and Instagram searches peak for a few days.
  3. 27–31 December. The nine-post grids appear. This is when a recap gets the most views.
  4. First week of January. Late posts still work — “this year” is still the previous one for a few days.

How to get yours now
